Is there a gorilla vs leopard thread? Leopard kills Gorilla almost twice its size. That wasn't Silverback, lmao. Where does it state "silverback" ? Just says "gorilla", the gorilla was 312 lbs, so unless this was an underweight silverback (which means he was badly feed in captivity), this was most likely a blackback gorilla, not a silverback. The smallest gorilla subspecies, the Mountain gorilla averages 357 lbs:
EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLA (GORILLA BERINGEI GRAUERI)- 175 KG (385 LBS).
MOUNTAIN GORILLA (GORILLA BERINGEI BERINGEI)-162 KG (357 LBS).
WESTERN LOWLAND GORILLA (GORILLA GORILLA GORILLA)-170 KG (374 LBS).
CROSS RIVER GORILLA (GORILLA GORILLA DIEHLI)-NOT MENTIONED. THIS IS THE LEAST STUDIED GORILLA SUBSPECIES AND MOST ENDANGERED. BODY WEIGHT IS NOT KNOWN TO BE MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE WESTERN LOWLAND GORILLA.

Plus gorillas are complex emotional animals who may indeed suffer psychological breakdown ripped from their family and thrown into a cage. It seems like the gorilla was just letting the leopard wail on it.

It could have been a Cross River gorilla.

BOOK THE MOUNTAIN GORILLA: ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOR archive.org/details/mountaingorillae00schaGorilla and leopard battled at night, the leopard being found dead in the morning. Merfield and miller (1956), on the other hand stated: "gorillas, however, seem to have no fear of leopard...." Recreation of a native of the account above:

I think gorilla reputation is tarnished, hardcore gorilla fans say a gorilla would rip off a tiger's head and punch its guts out of its mouth and then ''realists'' completely downplay gorillas like ''hey bro gorillas aren't that strong, a tiger would eat a gorilla easily because gorillas are heavily susceptible to claw injuries and are comparable to humans!'' Reality puts silverback gorillas slightly closer to the former than the latter.

If I had to rank gorillas against big cats then I'd put them above pantanal jaguars, but below lionesses most of the time.

It could have been a Cross River gorilla. Nope. Cross river gorillas average 166 KG (365 LBS). A 312 lb gorilla is either a very small silverback or most likely a blackback (not a mature male)

A gorilla would murder a lioness.

When a leopard kills a gorilla, he always does it by ambush, by the back, like a coward, when a gorilla kills a leopard, be does it face to face, tha'ts the difference. This is what happens when the leopard is spotted by the troop:

Yeah, that's why i said its either a below-average silverback (small specimen) or a blackblack.

IF A LEOPARD OR OTHER THREAT COMES NEAR, THE SILVERBACK SWINGS INTO ACTION. USUALLY THE LEOPARD WILL SLINK AWAY INTO THE FOREST.

Yeah, that's why i said its either a below-average silverback (small specimen) or a blackblack. It isn't below average lol. Adults range from 140-200kg. So 140-200kg is considered average.
