I want to kayak Lake Michigan.
Get yourself a trolling motor.

My dad has boats and is totally obsessed with fishing as his number 1 passion, so yeah. I've been fishing a lot. Some of the frequented places. Moreton bay- Noosa River Eliot River Jumpinpin Channel Mooloolaba Stradbroke Island Bribie Island Whitsundays Fraser island In fact, I did it so much in my late teens and early 20s, got so much salt water and sand in my asshole, I got a little sick of it and decided I prefer the inland countryside. So I actually prefer now to fish in freshwater creeks and rivers I also have a pretty sick fishing kayak (not my photo obviously but I have this exact model) Did you or your father catch any Bullsharks?

We've caught some sharks. Mostly babies, been broken off many times by what were probably bigger sharks. I caught a baby hammerhead that was maybe 2 feet long once. I'm trying to think of a distinctive definite "bull shark"... maybe not. Often think about it and talk about it because the river I am always messing around in and near is full of bullsharks, but I don't think I've caught any. Just baby sharks out in the ocean. Reef sharks and the hammerhead. Also some "wobbegongs" if they count. And Shovel noses which are technically sharks also.

I will fish off a dock but would never kayak. It is liable to flip, then I get swept by a current... nah. Freshwater and mud stuff is cooler anyways.

My kayak is a tank, most kayaks would flip but this is one you can stand up on. It's a special fishing kayak. And again I don't take it in the ocean, it's all rivers and creeks, the water can get "brackish" in some places but basically freshwater only. My saltwater stuff has been on my dad's boat, which is like this exact model - Before that he had a fibreglass boat, which frankly I liked better. This one is aluminum and it really gets bashed by the waves because it's so light.

In the Bahamas fly fishing for bonefish you can stand. Also, Coyote Peterson catches snapping turtles standing on his kayak.

My dickhead uncle caught a hammerhead once and cut it's head off. Because he wanted to freeze it as a trophy? Don't think he thought that through at all.

I get a kick out of those go-pro footages on YouTube where fishermen go out to sea in those fishing kayakes and end up getting stalked sharks. I've actually never had my Kayak in the sea. Doesn't really appeal to me, think you'd have to be quite the endurance athlete and you'd just be out there getting cooked, also yeah the roughness of the sea would be a problem. I like to be on a pretty big boat with a pretty fast motor in the ocean. I don't even like lakes, just sort of paddling and paddling and paddling and going no where on the big expansive body of water. I actually time my treks up the river with the tide. Sort of ride the tide up and then ride it going out on the way back. I like exploring the little nooks and crannies up the tributaries and etc, sneak up silently on turtles sun basking and herons fishing and etc etc. It's very peaceful and private, just the sounds of nature. I still haven't figured out a way to include my dogs. You could take a small terrier or something, but not big dogs. I've been thinking maybe a big canoe with a quiet electric motor could possibly accomodate dogs coming along on these adventures. The last time I kayaked it was into the middle of Lake Glenbawn (or more commonly Glenbawn Dam). The rode the tide quickly to the middle of the lake, then upon turning to shore found my self paddling against continuous pretty decent swells that kept turning me sideways. I'd power-paddle for a few minutes then eventually get turned and captize. Captized a few times before the kayak "drowned", and from there I'm stuck out there in freezing winter water about half and hour before dark. Fortunately one of the last motor boats in the area spotted me while returning to shore and picked me up, but it was a very cold half hour in the water. Stood in the hot shower for a whole hour and still cold. Tides are funny.

Sounds brutal. I like cold weather but have no tolerance for cold water. Like I said my kayak is unusually stable so I even have gone down rapids on it and everything. Never felt like it would tip. I need to use it more.
