17'' dog vs 26'' coyote... I dear HOPE wikipedia is wrong but I know they're not far off if anything. The basenji is totally fucked. It would put up a good fight, a coyote wouldn't just pick one off, but the coyote has the advantage.

This is just on average with some southern coyote, here is the generous comparison Here is the not so generous comparison theundertaker45 Does that look accurate to you?

Yeah coyote seems to have every advantage. Basenjis are a scrappy little dog, but are scrappy like a small coyote is scrappy.

Imo basenji are some of the most impressive small hunting dogs out there. Kills a "large raccoon" My Max got hold of a large raccoon in my backyard one night when he was about 2. My boyfriend at the time went out and saw the raccoon on its back with Max on his throat. He tried to separate them, but it was too late for the raccoon. I've kept my dog door down at night ever since. The two Bs I have now seem to be fearless and much more instinctively predatory than Max was–but fortunately I haven't had any raccoons etc in the backyard....yet. Kills a 150 pound doe Some of you may remember that Redmund is a Basenji that we placed with a family that owns a winery. About a year ago he mortally injured a deer that was in the vineyard (despite deer fencing). Last Wednesday Chris Pearmund, the owner of Pearmund Vineyards, was leaving at about 8:00 p.m. and there were about 20 deer outside the winery. Redmund took off in quick pursuit. Chris saw him riding the back of a rather large buck a couple of times but then he couldn't see him. He had to search the vineyard for a while before he came across Redmund chowing down on the carcass of a doe. It was obvious that Redmund had done the killing as the doe was chewed up around the neck, the same method Redmund used to take down the prior deer. This time Redmund had gutted the deer and had eaten a considerable portion of it's rump. Redmund did not eat at all the following day. Redmund is really a gentle soul who gets along really well with all the visitors to the winery, human and canine, exceptionally well. It's pretty amazing that a 20 pound dog could take down a 150 lb. basenjiforums.com/topic/4792/redmund-kills-another-deer19 Pound female basenji corners coyote One of my Basenjis got attacked by a Coyote yesterday! We were out walking and one came out from the edge of a field and chased down my boy Basenji. I was pretty far away, and went running. My dogs are only around 20 something lbs. The girl Basenji is a little lighter, around 19 lbs.Well my boy got away with a puncture in his hind quater only(lucky). The funny part is that the girl, who is a very intense little dog, and a great hunter, went after the Coyote and had it cornered against the fence! She was absolutely ferocious!! So all turned out well. The dogs are like my kids, so I worry. I think the dogs got close to the Coyote den, That's my theory. They have pups right around now. Where I run the dogs is pretty rural, and mostly I worry about Mt. Lions. I see tracks all the time. A neighbor came home and found a Cougar eating his cat on his front porch!! -Tim Old 12 year old basenji kills coyote Blaze has killed two coyotes now. The first one I didn't even know about, until he came back covered in blood. None of it was his, but we found the coyote the next day at the edge of the fence. Scarey enough, we were out side round the firepit and never heard a thing… The second time, he was whining to get out of the house, I let him out, thinking he had to go pee. He stood on the deck, staring out past the sheep pen, then made a weird warning snarl sound. The sheep moved to the closer fence to us, then Blaze took off like a shot. I thought he was going to kill the sheep. He ran right past them, that when I saw the grey blur take off. Blaze overtook him no problem and took him down. That was last year when Blaze was twelve. basenjiforums.com/topic/3590/coyote-attacked-my-b/16Basenji almost kills deer and kills full grown raccoon heard them talking about that at the party. The Basenji didn't kill the deer, but almost. They had to have the deer put down. Don't ever underestimate a Basenji. My little Max (24 lbs) did the same to a full grown racoon years ago….and Max didn't have even a scratch on him....I started putting the dog door down at night after that basenjiforums.com/topic/2503/basenji-s-on-wine-labels-need-your-help/25?lang=en-USAccording to this thread basenjis of 18-19" height aren't too uncommon and they'd weigh 30 pounds. Feral basenjis can go up to 40. They can overlap with eastern coyote in weight basenjiforums.com/topic/13821/who-has-the-largest-basenji/13Being one of the most primitive dog breeds basenjis are pretty respectable. Imo they are similar in accomplishments to coyotes and bobcats.

Yeah coyote seems to have every advantage. Basenjis are a scrappy little dog, but are scrappy like a small coyote is scrappy. Basenji have crazy impressive feats but it's telling they need to use much larger hounds when hunting bobcats and coyote even though basenji seem to be on the same tier featwise

Basenjis are tough as nails, no doubt about it, but... an experienced male coyote should take this. Killing a doe is easy, I'd expect nothing less. Coyote kills are something for sure. I think this is actually fairer now.

Coyotes are larger than any basenji in dimensions and height. Coyotes are not 25lbs... Are coyotes larger or smaller? I think their weights overlap a bit as a large male basenji can approach 30 Coyote weights depend on where you look, but it is rare to find a coyote under 35lbs. Most weigh around 45. The further north you go the bigger they will regularly be. So while near the equator you will get 30-40lb coyotes, up north you get 45-55lb coyotes.

A 30lb big ol boar raccoon? Now we're talking.

Most weigh around 45. Yea it's a mismatch at those weights. What do you think about basenji vs coyote at parity (both at 27.5) Hb basenji vs bobcat at 27.5

What do you think about basenji vs coyote at parity (both at 27.5) Hb basenji vs bobcat at 27.5 I'd go basenji. Now the basenji's elite domestic dog attributes can come into play to outfight and kill the coyote a bit more often than not.
