Dale, do you by chance have the original study regarding the ML% of Roman baiting bulldogs? I'd be extremely interested to see how their bones look like if the skeleton is viable

I'd be extremely interested to see how their bones look like if the skeleton is viable Unfortunately there was little information about them, they were just data points in the "Vindolanda dog study" on the variety of dog phenotypes over the ages. All we know is they were found at an Ancient Roman town called Gorsium-Herculia, which was located in what is now Hungary near Budapest. They were dated to around 150 AD and appear to come from dogs built somewhat like staffordshire bull terriers. It would be awesome to get a look at the bones, they exist, and are probably available to be viewed by the public in a museum. Possibly even the Gorsium-Herculia museum. I'm not sure. I haven't seen them.

Do you know how they are calculating humerus robusticity? It isn't a topic I really ever got into or thought about.

You should calculate the ML robusticity % of an M1a2 Abrams tank like if it was an animal. Would be funny Weight: 62.5 tons Hull lenght: 7.92 meters Total Lenght (with gun going forward): 9.83 meters Width: 3.48 meters Height: 2.44 meters

great job, although honestly, individual variation might have played against or in favor of certain species here. I've seen figures for gray wolves in the vindolan dog study which puts them at around 8.00%M-L (possibly the big lugger males), and i definitely think that certain big cats can be higher, specially the tiger. A friend of mine also collected data from another study, in which lions scored at 9.46 or 9.50% in the humerus at M-L which is almost the same as the jaguars used in the study. My educated guess would be that Jaguars would absolutely max at 10.00% in M-L (specially for absurdly robust males like Tupa), Tigers and Lions at 9.50% (maybe more if being generous), Leopards at 9.35% (considering congoless and persian leopards), cougars are pretty much at their absolute best in the study so there isn't much to say about them.

I would like to see the Spectacled bear.
Theundertaker45:
Humerus ML Diameter/Humerus Length Ratio
1. Brown Bear - 10.9% 2. Arctodus Simus - 10.6% 3. American Black Bear - 10.4% (smaller estimates from small bears) 4. Polar Bear - 9.9% 5. Sloth Bear - 9.7% 6. Asiatic Black Bear - 9.4% 7. Giant Panda - 8.8% 8. Sun Bear - 8.7% 9. Spectacled Bear - 8.5%
