The big five drive, one of my favourite ones. He's been very famous among Carnivora big cat posters, truly a massive male that took down a mare zebra likely 3-4 times its size alone. Large male leopards are next level in terms of sheer power. And power is obviously directly proportional with size in cats

Big rainforest leopard inspecting the mirror. Based on skull length and width, the largest leopards are from the Congo and Iran.

RIP Hosana, he was a monster in his prime which is also when he got unfortunately and unluckily killed after he attacked an anti-poaching troop that had no other choice but defending itself. Shame we will never see how massive he would have looked through his whole prime career and if he would have become the dominant male of the Sabi sands. When younger, he developed a weird taste for stealing several kills from hyenas and sometimes even engaging them very angrily. As Dale would say, a macho attitude.

I really don't like ranking them based on subspecies, rather based on populations 1) Easily North Iranian and Aberdare leopards, regarding skull size , immense size and muscular appearance they seem unmatchable. I could add Horton Plains leopards aswell as they seem the Sri Lankan version of Aberdare ones. Historically, I'd include also Barbary Leopards but they are extinct. 2) Dr Congo , Masai Mara Leopards,Kwa Zulu Natal,Yala and Okonjima ones. Maybe some isolated Gabon populations 3)Great Kruger leopards, indian leopards as a whole, Gabon leopards. 4) the rest

Are you saying here that Sri Lankans don't rank anywhere?

Are you saying here that Sri Lankans don't rank anywhere? I literally listed them there? Horton Plains and Yala are Sri Lankan leopard populations. I don't like that you're leaving out Aberdare leopards, they are imo the most impressive ever, maybe even more than north Persian ones. Their jaguar-like round skull and bulky appearance, also two hunting records of that 276 mm skull 204 lb tom and the even larger allegedly 285 mm skull 210-220 lb estimated monster that visually was much larger than all the men close to him. As large as an average pantanal jaguar almost.

Too much non existant data almost for both to say for sure, we have the photographic evidence that those regions produce enormous and muscular males, like that merged camera trap of that 1.70 x 197 lb man compared to that enormous male leopard with gigantic skull and size that looked no smaller than the man. But we have to see in the future . Will post a lot about Horton Plains leopards from Sri Lanka in the upcoming days.
