Maybe it's the angle, it's a wide head because male cougars have proportionally wider heads than almost any canid, and at 115 lbs they are shorter but slightly wider than that of a dogo as I've got the measurements on the dogo v cougar thread . The dogo's head still looks not only longer but probably even wider from a speculative dorsal view. I don't know it looks to me like the dogo's head is considerably larger overall . View AttachmentNow heads up cause I'm in a debate against a caracal fangirl Where is the debate taking place? Enjoy the comment section. Do you know where the photo is from? Knowing the location should be a first step towards an estimate, since Puma populations vary greatly Rio Negro, Argentina Not the Pampas, but also not quite South Patagonia, 50-60kg seems likely

What I'm getting from reading comments from this Prince guy is he absolutely hates dogs. Lingers around r/dogfree and r/banpitbulls, lol. I'd be shocked if he wasn't on CF. He talks like 8Avian and I simply refuse to believe it isn't him. Could be a doppelganger I guess.

My work computer blocked that but saw it on my phone... I'd say it had a run in with a puma judging by those wounds? The guy is pretty wild, hunting pumas and bears with staghounds. Not that he invented it or anything- But even these look like they are leaning a little more boarhound or at least dogal-esque, rather than straight up stag.

Surprising a cougar couldn't outgrapple and kill a staghound or at least tear it up more than that. For some dumb reason I can't see the original instagram post, says must be 18 or older. Which is dumb because I set my instagram account to something well above 18.

Well the placement of that bite and claw marking as Dale would say indicates that the cougar did well and didn't have to tear up the dog all over from a losing position.

I'd imagine the cougar was outgrappling the staghound at points and showing it's stronger, BUT the staghound was too strong and too agile itself in order to end up being subjugated. So it was just a continuous battle for dominance, which wasn't won by the cat or the staghound would be dead.
