As to overall power the U.S.A. comes in #1. As to training and discipline I have to give it to the British. As to tactics and overall experience along with positive results, one has to give that to the Israelis.
I also have to give a shoutout to Turkey as they have a very large, serious military. Make no mistake about it, it was them not the U.S. that wiped out ISIS.

Yeah well Israel have a population of <10 million so how would they even grace the leaderboard, lol? I'll add them anyways though to stop any fuss.

The Apaches never fielded more than 300 warriors at any given time. Where they not warriors to be feared? The Spartans at the most fielded 10,000. Numbers be damned, it's all about motivation/training/expertise.... *NOT* numbers. Don't believe me? Go and talk to the Ukrainians. |

It's a no-brainer that the US has the strongest military. Where the US really kills the competition is in their ability to wage war globally, assets all over the world.
Just going off conventional warfare and excluding nuclear/strategic weapons, Russia and China make up the top 3. The main military strength of those countries is their extremely strong domestic defensive capabilities. They don't hold a fraction of the US's ability to wage war globally, but that's not what they have been going for. They'd be virtually impossible for even the US by itself to occupy.
A lot of people judge Russia's military on its post-cold war strength, although what a lot don't know is over the past decade or two they've come back and are now pretty much number two, despite their measely GDP that's like Florida.
Why then can't Russia take Ukraine? Well Ukraine is a first-world power with military comparable to Australia, and even the US has found it difficult to mop up third-world powers on their own home soil.
Realistically even without strategic weaponry Russia could just come in and carpet-bomb the crap out of Ukraine and destroy the whole country within short order. But of course that's not what they're going for and they wouldn't dare anyway.
North Korea is nothing without nuclear weapons, in conventional warfare a far way behind Australia.
India is no joke, probably next behind China. China's coming up in a big way and could overtake Russia sooner rather than later.
In conventional warfare Israel is in a similar ballpark to Australia like in the Top 20, although including nuclear weapons Israel's might increases dramatically.
Yes Turkey is strong, greater than Australia but not as strong as Pakistan.
