I have said before that Bovine vs Bovine I will typically lean Bison over cattle or buffalo. Just due to the "battering ram" adaptations. There is a famous video where a ram sheep knocks out a cow. Cold on the ground (possibly killed it, we get no closure on what happened). The ram is a battering... ram, by design. It's a "run really fast into your buddy and clash heads to see who is better" animal, and so is the bison. Buffalos and cattle and gaur and etc etc aren't. They push and they gore and ruck and stab and etc, but they don't "ram". If a bison and chianina sized eachother up, the bison would then ram, and IMO knock the chianina out cold, fracture it's skull and probably kill it. It's not built to withstand that kind of monumental force in a collision to it's head. Few animals are. Bighorn sheep and Pachycephalosaurus spring to mind, and bison.
Doesn't mean bison are better in every way, I think buffalo and cattle can be more deadly to predators. Goring, rucking and stabbing, pushing into the ground and spearing a horn in through behind the shoulder, etc, all these things are incredibly hazardous to carnivores, more so than what the bison can do. But bovine vs bovine... even size won't help the Chianina. A big heavy body is all the better back brace to have your skull crushed against.

I think if they engaged in a bison fight the bull might be in trouble. It might be a stretch to say bison are bighorn sheep comparable, that's a slight exaggeration on my part, but the forces in their head collisions definitely exceed what you will typically see from bulls (or buffalos) fighting. I wonder what that setting is? May be a bison raised by cattle. I don't think it's a very hostile fight.

Isn't the Chianina also like over 700kg heavier?
