I'll just say I don't think 50 feet is plausible, but I'm open to it being an undiscovered giant snake. It doesn't look like a central African Rock python, and looks potentially bigger than one too. Not 35 feet longer, but but maybe 10 or even 15 feet longer.

Found the interview with Remy Van Lierde.
I think he states that he was 25-30 feet above ground at around 0:49.
Never mind, he descended to around 25-30 feet after he took the photo.

I wouldn't be TOO surprised if it was a freak constrictor, reptile growth mechanics do allow such things to happen. They need to go around again, check if there's a breeding population. That'd be something.

I think an undiscovered snake is plausible, maybe an old world boa. Central/west africa is not well explored by field scientists due to how dangerous and politically tumultuous it often is.

It's either a well-planned hoax or forced perspective. The video tape is stored in Bernard Heuvelmans zoological archive at Switzerland, but he died over 20 years ago. I don't think it was a 50-foot long snake IF it was real. The largest Afrocks max out at around 20-foot. There's also nothing to compare it to. Those trees and the termite mound look somewhat suspicious to me, and the diameter of the mound is unknown, so estimating the snake's length is totally unreliable.
