An IRISH wolfhound? I was born in Ireland. They are mid-tier, trust me. It stops at the Dairy cow, if even that.

Australia disagrees, wolfhounds hunt feral donkeys and pigs. A wolfhound would massacre a bull elk IMO. A dairy cow might be harder, actually, wasn't really thinking about my rankings.

TBH being born in Ireland isn't really a qualification for knowing what a functional wolfhound can do. Being born in Ireland in the 1400s and actively hunting with wolfhounds? Those would be some pretty solid credentials, but just "born in Ireland" even then wouldn't be much, and in recent times it's irrelevant because the working wolfhound has not stalked the valleys and moorlands of Ireland for over 200 years.
Some lineages have retained some work in places like Australia, South Africa, Argentina and possibly even pakistan (I saw evidence, once). Usually these are cross breeds, but there is the odd exception. I personally knew of a pure wolfhound that killed wild donkeys in Australia (routinely, as a job). The way a bm x wolfhound I know killed an 80 kg Boar makes me think a pure wolfhound should hypothetically be able to replicate the feat. I think a large elk would be doable. And that's with a quick decisive "sighthound" style kill. With time, with a wolf-style kill, a bovine may also be possible.
Wolfhounds are talented instinctual killers with elite predatory adaptations, and also can weigh up to 80 kgs.
Yes most today are soft goofy pets, but most tigers are also soft goofy pets. I don't see why we always focus on that great "shame" for the dog but not the tiger's great shame. Nearly 70% of tigers are goofy silly pets, some of them even have down's syndrome, and no one ever mentions it. With dogs all anyone ever focusses on are the pets, even though 70+% of dogs AREN'T pets (most are feral, many are working dogs). Most wolfhounds specifically ARE pets, this is true, but either way I just ignore the pets no matter what animal we are talking about.
