Im gonna get a lot of shit for this. Anyway, im gonna name my reasons I don’t like them. The Blue Heeler, or Australian Cattle Dog in America has been bred to ride in the back of the truck because “thats country” or for show. Its very hard to find one you can send very far, or that will actually work. Now while they will work of course, there is a difference. Most want to work to please you, because most have been bred for that for function. They wanna chase, bite or bark off of adrenaline but when the work really starts, they are done. They come back and get petted, and they’re real happy with what they’ve done, and expect you to be happy with what they’ve done as well. The working Border Collies on the other hand only care about work really. They don’t work just for you, they also work to please themselves as well. The Heelers i’ve seen only do the work to please you. For me, for a dog that gets the job done, that works not to please you, but is also biddable and intelligent enough to work for you, is the working Border Collie. I mean no hate to Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog owners but this is my opinion on why I dislike them.

Lol you called Bear Dogs rough curs but at the same time said hounds cannot properly hunt. Sure, I said that at the beginning of researching stock dogs because I had 0 comprehension of anything and thought they had grit. While they do the show ring has ruined them.

This doesn't really align with my observations at all, but the heelers bred in the USA might be mostly show dogs. Most here are actually from real working lines.
They have a very different herding style to border collies, they are supposed to. Not really the same animal at all. They aren't meant for precise herding, they are "drovers". They move big herds of semi-wild cattle (sometimes fully wild) over long distance, and drive stragglers back to the herd, usually by biting the shit out of them. Would never use them for sheep at all, and wouldn't use them to move tame cattle around small farms either. Calling them a herding dog is actually a stretch. They are almost more in line with BMCs and catahoulas. Rough cattle persuading dogs.
No dog can herd with the finesse, precision and skill of a border collie.
Kelpies are close, and can be just as valuable (both having some elite workers sell for $30 000+ USD) because they are more versatile and rugged. You can move cattle long distances with them, herd sheep with some precision and also jostle around with livestock (cattle or sheep) in the stockyards (this is where they are kings) and make them go where they need to go.
Heelers don't sell for $30 000, lol. They are just rough mongrel bastard dogs that persuade mean cattle. That said their stamina and resilience and enthusiasm for work is right up there with anything.

I'm intrigued by the bear dog conversation... and I guess the hound one as well.

I think we should ban Wyatt for thinking a catfish could eat a moose.

I think we should ban Wyatt for thinking a catfish could eat a moose. Depends. I'm not familiar with the sizes of prehistoric catfish. But an ancient fish called 'Mawsonia' was like 5.3 m long and it lived in freshwater. It was kinda (kinda) like a catfish.

Riveting viewing.
Curs are usually made by crossing different types to end up with a versatile jack of all trades. They can then be used for both hunting and moving/persuading livestock (dogs tend to make no distinction).
However, spitz breeds are dogs from before they split into different types, and they too are versatile all-purpose dogs which can be used to hunt all sorts of game and even to herd livestock. So for all intents and purposes they are "curs", or even the original curs. They tend to share similar balances of drives and instincts and strategies/techniques for dealing with animals. Some curs are rougher than others, and some spitz breeds are rougher than others, too. Karelian bear dogs and akitas would be 2 examples of really quite rough spitz breeds, and both have been used to hunt bears and boars. Though they look very different, and are genetically distant, they perform not unlike catahoulas, blackmouth curs and rhodesian ridgebacks.

It's not really fair, you learned from the master while Wyatt got his dog knowledge from a used diaper he found in the garbage, which he then ate and it gave him hallucinations. If he rests and recovers and starts learning from me he'll be alright.
