It was about 30 years ago. I was walking with my 2nd wife and her aunt Betty. We saw 2 golden retrievers or 2 golden labs (we weren't sure) coming towards us at a slow pace. They weren't very big, both about 65-70 pounds. As they got closer we realized that they were not dogs at all, but 2 year old cougars. We took off to the left into one of the rental cabins that Betty owned. Two year olds are the most dangerous cougars of all. Their mother weans them and drives them off. They haven't learnt how to hunt well yet, and are starving. This makes them do things that a cougar would not normally do, like go looking for food with humans around. |
