Mediterranean sighthounds are likely the first family of dogs to appear on the scene besides the Spitz and Pariah dogs that came after wolves. Their most common purpose is to catch rabbits or hunt big game in packs. I haven’t seen them hunting much other than rabbits. They were great for ancient humans because they can consistently catch small game so you can never go hungry with such a dog. They likely looked after themselves due to being early dogs that were left to roam around. They are possibly connected to the basenji.

Dingoes originate from pariah dogs that migrated from Asia to Australia. After the aborigines destroyed everything in Australia, dingoes were the nail in the coffin for the vulnerable animals remaining. They are now an Australian native animal that lives solo or in packs. They hunt piglets, calves, sheep, deer, kangaroo, feral cats, rabbits and other small animals.
