It's all bluff, that owl was terrified so it flapped its wings up to appear bigger than it is. The cat could've scored there tbh.

Birds of prey naturally sit their ass on the ground and pray something catches them lacking. The owl needs to unlack itself.

What bird of prey should face the cat then? Well the qualifier is ''don't be injured''. I don't know much about scottish wildcats, but I'd say an eagle would do best, followed by hawks and then falcons. Nothing OP like a harpy obviously, but a bald eagle or something like that. Ferruginous hawk, peregrine falcon... I see them all as solid contenders. Owls have NEVER impressed me at all.

I think an owl could beat this cat btw, just I wouldn't want to put them out there to find out.

Tough one, it could go either way.
One of my neighbors have a tiny cat, Just a adult that is small. She got into a fight with a owl and got her leg broken in the fight but still managed to fight it off

Owl's talons are actually very good at squeezing and crushing.

Golden eagle will be a better match. There are records of both killing each other.
