I figured I'd make a thread about this, a lot of ignorance about it and it depends on the type of hunting/organized fight and whether they care about the dogs or not. This includes: Any melee physical harm to the animal during the fight that wasn't meant to put the animal out of its misery, spiked collar, declawing/defanging, captive excuse, animal was afraid etc. Will post on this thread later.

If the dog can't beat the animal then it isn't practical. When a human is on standby it doesn't matter. Some guys will do bad shit, like pin a badger's head to the ground or jump on a pig etc. etc., this isn't the norm. Then there's the ''spiked collars'' claim on catch dogs that's specifically derived from a single photo of a tiny cougar tied to a rope getting killed by 2 Dogos with spiked collars. And then there's nothing else regarding that. Thick leather collars exist, sometimes, but no spikes. That's for LGDs, because they NEED to live and their lives are valued, unlike catch dogs. If the catch dog can't win, it dies. The human can't just step in while the catch dog is right up in there guns blazing and say ''stop!!! okay boar, let me just saw your tusks off real quick'' or whatever. The human might dislike the fact that his dog is dying, and may make an effort to save it, but he can not make the dog win. He can only get his dog off of the quarry to try to tend to it, and that's if the dog decides to disengage which it likely won't. Then there's the viewpoint that the human being there affects the animal's combative capacity because the animal is scared of the human... the animal isn't even taking note of the human if it's getting grabbed and shaken around. The human might change an animal's mindset from defense to escape, and then it turns into a fight when the dog catches it because it tried to get away from the humans like the street dog and the cougar video, it's still a perfect 1 on 1 fight that wouldn't change no matter the circumstances. For running catch dogs, the fact that they exist proves that the human factor is irrelevant. They can fuck up an animal miles away from the human, for as long as needed until it's dead or the human finally catches up on a horse, in a truck or on foot. When a man slips a knife into a downed animal, the dog won. Victory dog. The dog ''killed it''. It will, eventually, depending on the animal, but why wait? Just causes more suffering. Bottom line is: If a dog exists to beat the shit out of an animal, it can beat the shit out of it. ''The human factor'' is irrelevant and does not exist.
