Height: 24-28'' Weight: 60-90lbs Place of Origin: Europe/Siberia The Steppe wolf is a smaller wolf subspecies. Predates on deer, boar and smaller game. It lives in packs of 2-6 usually, with some packs being larger.

We have red wolves out here. Think of a gigantic fox on steroids and you get the idea. What generally happens is you get a very large female coyote that goes into heat, and for some reason wanders away from the pack. Along comes a young male wolf, maybe 3 years old or so and he is not very big.
They mate and a few months later this pub with it's mixture of different greys, and the black gene that all wolves carry, comes out red. I've seen only one and it reminded me of a dingo.

I heard red wolves also have dog admixture. The conservation of red wolves is stupid, lol, they cannot go extinct unless coyotes or wolves go extinct. How large do coyotes get, do you know? There used to be red wolves in the Missouri Ozarks.

Checking with you to see how it compares to google. I'm not sure about the dog mixture, first time I've heard that. I've seen some coyotes around here that must have been about 55 pounds or so. Most here are about 35-45 pounds.
