Leopard/wolf/puma/hyena.
Freakish technique could possibly achieve higher. I think there was some japanese guy who could kill a bull with his bare hands.

Wolves and leopards/pumas aren't interchangeable. A leopard/puma is a harder opponent for a human than a wolf, their claws and superior reflexes are devastating for us, also humans are just bad match-ups for dogs imo.

They are in a similar tier but just against each other at the same weight. When it comes to fighting people, I would switch out wolf with a Tosa or PP Bandog which mimics a Tosa in design. Or even a big LGD. A human can twist a wolf's leg and rip open its sternum incredibly easily. (And the dogs can shatter its bones and tear off its limbs)

However a man would have some issues with a Tosa or giant LGD. They have thick loose skin and are inclined to take control. Wolves are neither. In fact, they are actively deficient in both of those qualities.

I agree humans are a bad matchup for dogs, but leopards and pumas have been beaten also. It's like humans are kind of a bad matchup for them as well. Leopards mostly only achieve the feat in South Asia, very rarely in Africa. Weirdly stark contrast in man-eating cases (hundreds vs 3 or 4 over the last century) and I think the difference has to be the actual people, as prey. When you consider this, the often repeated belief that pumas are inferior man-killers actually gets debunked, because they also have 3 or 4 cases over the last hundred years. Like non-indian leopards. Send some more Indian guys jogging in puma country or moving goats around in africa and you may see a sudden dramatic up-spike in man eating cases.
