the American Bully has multiple size classes so their height and weight has a lot of variation, some of these size classes are better suited to work then others
height: (pocket) 14-17 inches, (classic) 16-20 inches, (standard) 16-20 inches, (extreme) 16-20 inches, (XL) 19-23 inches
Weight: (pocket) 10-30 pounds, (classic) 55-80 pounds, (standard) 60-100 pounds, (extreme) 70- 120 pounds, (XL) 80-150 pounds
Country of origin: United States
Type: Bull breed
The American bully was created in the 1980s-1990s by selectively breeding American Pitbull Terriers (A.P.B.T) and American staffordshire terriers (amstaffs) for a specific look. The creators started out with just backyard bred A.P.B.Ts but eventually started using game bred dogs in the blood line, many of these crosses were ADBA registered, they bred those dogs for a specific look, to be a bit thicker then average A.P.B.Ts, have a larger head and have slightly less energy, they then started putting AKC Amstaffs into the blood line as well. Many people in recent times have mixed many bulldog and mastiff breeds into the breed for added size and a more chill temperament. Many breeders of the American bully nowadays that breed their dogs to have more exotic looks, short and squat proportions and little drive, now many bully’s are bred to be pets but you can still find some good working American Bullys today that are still true to their original roots. The American bully has a short and smooth coat that can come in many colors. You can see working American bullys being used in weight pulling, protection work, catch work and more.
