I said when we first encountered them. Over the thousands of years of co-existence some of our populations seemed to grow, but the first wave to leave africa and encounter neanderthals were quite diminutive.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do with "not true" when it categorically is true. Everyone outside of africa has about 2% neanderthal DNA. Africans it seems tend to have a tiny trace, around 0.03%, not from interacting with neanderthals, but interacting with "2%-ers" who moved back into africa in the last 30 000 years.
Most interestingly, papuans and aborigines have a whopping 5-7% of DNA from Denisovan man, an entirely different species again which they encountered in south east asia.

Neanderthals brain while large was much like that of a porpoise in that the areas that controlled the sight, smell, and hearing were well developed, while the areas that controlled deductive reasoning and speech were underdeveloped. Scientists as of late feel that Neanderthal DNA suggests that most had blue eyes and were fair skinned. The majority of Neanderthal population was in Europe, not Africa where very few have been found suggesting that Neanderthals originated in Europe.
Last year an interesting set of Neanderthal skeletons were found in a cave in Spain dating to about 42,000 years ago. One had 50% Neanderthal DNA and 50% Cro Magnon DNA. It appears that we were killing the males and keeping the females for sex. They eventually over time got bred right out of existence.

Homo Sapiens, Neanderthals and Denisovans all share a common ancestor in Heidelberg man. Sapiens - Africa Neanderthal - Europe Denisovan - Asia Is basically how that branching out from Heidelberg occurred. Homo-sapiens then ofcourse ventured out of Africa, mingled with, and ultimately displaced, the others.

About a month ago an interesting discovery was made in a cave where they found the well preserved mummified remains of an LBJ-Man. LBJ-Man looked very much like modern day Homo-Sapiens except that the penis was 3 times larger than that of modern man. And the brain was massive!
