@hardcastle how do you think Diesel would do?

You know, it seems crazy to argue a dog can beat a spotted hyena, and I normally wouldn't bother pissing people off, instead pick my battles and just let them have that one. However... when you break it down to an individual dog like Diesel, it seems crazy to say he would lose. He actually weighed more than a spotted hyena, 75 kgs in working weight, and also could move so so so much better (he once literally ran down a fox in a fair open field chase where the fox had a big head start). I struggle to see why he would lose. "But the hyena's jaws" yeah yeah, as per usual it just won't even get to use them. Everyone is so impressed with hyenas enduring beatings, and no one ever stops to point out that they never actually beat up anything else. They reason that if a hyena can endure a beating from a lion or 3 kangals, then surely it would kill some other dog 1 on 1. Not understanding that they still have yet to establish offense from the hyena that would suggest it can get that done.
I don't think most dogs would win, not even most bullwolfhounds. Most are gonna be too small, most dogs that are big enough will be shit. Diesel was like the Shaquille O'neal or Zion Williamson of Bullwolfhounds. He was just a one off freak, and with him specifically? Yes I think he could win.

I think the general consensus should be stalemate. The hyena is too durable but the Bullwolfhound is too fast and agile.

That's not a bad take. You are probably right.

Thanks to the Bullwolfhound both parties are allowed to live. Should start hiring them as peace officers.

There's always been this assumption that "after dog wins for an hour and fails to kill the animal it was beating up, the loser will then casually kill the dog". No a stalemate is an actual stalemate, the decimated and dominated loser will be in no shape to kill anything after enduring it's horrific mauling. It will be just as exhausted, if not more so, and hurting badly. It won't be in the mood to kill, it will have been thoroughly "tamed" and made quite sheepish and submissive in the fight. So many people attribute wild animals with this rare ability to lose badly for an extended period of time and then turn the tables and prevail in the end. Even I have kind of unconsciously "gifted" animals with this ability, but it was an extremely naive and ignorant assumption. That is so rare, hardly any animal can go from badly losing for a drawn out period and then flip things to win and kill in the end. It's like we're pretending every animal is "game". They aren't. So far from it.
