Male Spectacled bears are around 100-200kg iirc.

The Red river hog is around 50-120kg, so I favour the bear.

I think the bear will win too. It can prey on tapirs which have similar features to the hog except the suide has much deadlier tusks.

I've only known of confirmed attempts on tapir, not of successful kills. Even the attempt is impressive to me though, Tapir are actually a high calibre of prey and can use their bite to devastating effect. I'd put them above the hog (and hogs in general save for very large ussuri or manchurian hogs). If spectacled bears do prey on tapir with any degree of regularity I think we'd have to start looking at it as a fairly special bear lbs for lbs.

Tapirs seem to trade some durability in exchange for damage output. However I think boars with large tusks outdo tapirs.

Do you think people could dog tapirs w/ catch dogs?

It could be done, but I also think it would be very dangerous and hazardous. I've definitely read stuff about tapirs killing dogs of unknown type. They're a weirdly capable fighter using their bite.
