Neanderthals clean house unless they both miss.

This can probably be a mildly risky hunt depending on the experience of the Neanderthals involved. I will say I think there is a much higher chance that they will successfully use their weapons than getting gored and trampled to death. It may take a long time but the Neanderthals should be good for a couple of weeks now.

I wouldn't say Neanderthals are any worse than Homo sapien hunter gatherers, so they should be good with spears and I'd trust them to get it right. They'd have experience with this sort of thing. Cave paintings have been found where it's a mammoth with a target where its heart is. I'm wondering if that was to train and illustrate to fellow humans where to aim to kill the mammoth. They will know where its weak points are and target accordingly from an advantageous position.

Neanderthals had unusually big strong wrists and were extra sturdy with wide hips and it is thought this was specifically to drive spears into big struggling game (not really built for throwing spears well, they'd more likely hold them and use them as pikes). So they are well equipped to win this one, but could also definitely lose. It would depend on their performance and accuracy on the day.

A read a study not so many years ago that stated that Neanderthals did not hunt with throwing weapons. Their spears were for holding and jabbing. They were "up close and personal hunters" and very courageous. The study compared Neanderthal injuries to rodeo cowboy injuries.
