@packhunter and anyone else, just to get a quick sense of some of your preferences, what animals do you favour MOTN in the following matchups?
Those matchups where you don't have conviction, just give your current best guess...
1. Lion vs Tiger (parity) 2. Brown Bear vs Tiger (parity) 3. Clouded Leopard vs African Wild Dog (average males) 4. Polar Bear vs Kodiak Bear (parity) 5. African Leopard vs Spotted Hyena (parity) 6. Cheetah vs African Wild Dog (average males) 7. Cheetah (male) vs Gray Wolf (female) 8. African Leopard vs Cougar (parity) 9. Silverback Gorilla vs Pantanal Jaguar (average males) 10. Kodiak Bear vs Spanish Bull (average males) 11. African Leopard (female) vs Gray Wolf (male) 12. Baboon vs gamebred APBT (parity)

Gamebred APBT A couple of these I found really close/hard. It seems we think fairly similarly on most matchups. I'm going with AWD over Clouded Leopard due to the great weight disparity, with the male AWD an easy 1.5-times the weight. African Leopard vs Spotted Hyena is always an interesting one. I found the male Cheetah vs female Gray Wolf a bit hard to call given the great weight difference, with the cheetah I assume having a good 40 or 50 lbs on the wolf. However I ultimately decided against the cheetah, as if the cheetah can't bring the wolf down with its forelimbs then it loses, and I think the cheetah would struggle in that. The female African Leopard vs male Gray Wolf was a very hard one for me, but like yourself decided to go with the leopard. I think it would be closer than a lot realize. Word is stylistically canids find primates difficult to contend with, as the primate can employ some control of the canid with its hands. Antonio has termed primates the "bogey opponent" of canids. But while I think hunters may leave their dogs in the truck for baboon hunts, it doesn't necessarily mean one of their dogs wouldn't ultimately beat the baboon in a fight. Just that the baboon poses an unacceptable risk of injury. Hunters need their dogs to be relatively safe while hunting their quarry and able to reliably control them. Primate hands probably make that control difficult. Hunters don't want close matchups otherwise their dogs get hurt too much. Ultimately, while stylistically more difficult and dangerous for the APBT, I still favour the APBT against parity baboon.

Don't listen to Antonio, listen to the African hunter he got it from: ''Pomma The interesting thing about African animals is that each animal should be handled in a different way. If the dog do not learn quick he is history. Aardwolf, brown hyena, jackal, the dog should go for the throat. Porcupine he should not rush in, wait for his change and grab the head. Warthog, two big Maritsanes can take the ears, but small greyhound will hold it above the tail or on the hind leg. If near the head and he cant hold the ear, he is dead. Small buck and antelope the throat. Big bucks or if you work cattle, the nose. Baboon, the dog should circle , go in one bite on throat and get out of his way, circle again, go in and out again....ware him down and try to rip out his air pipe ( open up his throat). If he just go in the baboon will rip him in pieces with his hands and legs. Very difficult to learn. Bully's normally get killed...you need very intelligent dog that is not afraid.
Once you have a dog that can catch anything, money can not buy him... Cheers David'' www.ozziedoggers.com.au/forum/index.php?/topic/816-more-dogs/
