Bolushi popped the following matchup on me the other day in Messages, imo an interesting one. I'd be interested in the opinion of others on the forum.
Maybe it's succinct enough to put in the dedicated A2A subforum, but with the necessary inclusion of the Alabai's weight I wasn't so sure. So I'll put it here just in case:
2x Mackenzie Valley Wolves vs 1x 200-lb fighting Alabai...
I think I'm favouring the 2 MV wolves here.

In a 10 by 10 fighting ring the Alabai would probably win. In the wilderness the wolves could pick it apart but if it ever caught one and worked a steadfast hold due to its gripping dog admixture it would win if it killed one.

Yeah it seems like a bit of a touch-and-go matchup. Often the best kinds! Not walk-in for the wolves by any stretch. Only possibly problem I can see with choosing the wolves is possibly underestimating how good a "fighting" Alabai would be, perhaps I'm sort of superimposing a normal working Alabai into the match as 200 lb "fighting" Alabai's aren't commonplace. Neighbour's dog woke me up at 5 am this morning, think I'll go for a bit more naptime. Don't know why some dog owners let their dogs yap on like that, like doesn't it disturb them too? Fortunately the dog doesn't do that all the time. Got a peek of it while up on the roof doing some guttering the other week, looks like a rott x doberman. Neighbour on the other side has what they say is a black AmStaff, although it seems more like a staffie to me.

Rott x Dobie... you should go set up a lemonade stand in front of their house and borrow your neighbor's Staffy with a sign saying ''My dog would like to meet your doberman cross, thanks!'' and then let the Staffy beat the shit out of it. Then you throw lemonade at the owner so they can't save their dog.

Then you throw lemonade at the owner so they can't save their dog. Someone told me about these devices you point them into the yard and they let off a high-pitched tone everytime the dog barks. The tone can be heard by the dog and is uncomfortable to them, but is out of hearing range of humans. Not sure if it's ethical or not but if the dog was too bad I'd be finding out. Fortunately he's not too constant like a lot of neglected dogs can be. Still, stupid weak-arse owners for never wanting to do anything with the dog's behaviour. Worse than the rottie/doberman is this chihuaha a girl has in an apartment a few doors down that yaps far more. Fortunately it's just far enough away from my block to not be a concern, but I'd shoot myself if I lived in one of the other 3 apartments right near it. She's always home too while it's going on and again I think "Why do you allow that?" She's afraid of the thing getting out the front door in case the staffie happens to be out and about at the same time XD The staffie owners are in the worst position sharing a wall with the chihuhaha lady. Just don't know how they put up with it, I couldn't. The staffie is gold, a really terrific dog.

I think in the future we can put things like this in the arena, it doesn't have strict conditions, in fact doesn't even have to be about a fight. Any kind of contest between any animals. Even just discussing which is better at xyz, would be ok by me.
I think 2 mackenzie valley wolves would be a problem, because they are going to be quite evasive and use cooperative hit and run strategies. Sometimes 2 vs 1 doesn't seem to matter in my experience, but I feel like it starts mattering more when the 2 know how to work together and actually use number maximising strategies. I agree with bolushi in that if they're in a proverbial phone booth and the wolves can't use movement and evasive footwork things start looking better for the alabai, but in an open field I don't like it's chances.
