I think backyard breeders produce the best and worst dogs, ''reputable'' show breeders consistently produce shit dogs, and working line breeders consistently produce decent dogs. What do you guys think?

What do you guys think? I think if a backyard breeder produces good dogs then they are a reputable breeder and if they don’t then they are not

I think it doesn't matter if you're backyard, show, reputable geneticist ... If the work isn't there, real work, the dogs will be crap. The best a reputable breeder or show breeder can do is keep a lid on things to prevent it getting crazy out of hand bad. So by health screening and temperament testing and following a conformation standard that promotes balance and non-exaggerated qualities, etc etc. You can prevent your dog lineage from becoming completely sloppy nerve riddled mutant garbage, BUT you can't maintain the working animal without the work that sculpted it into existence. That work maintains the dog lineage, and so effectively you can actually be an irresponsible moron breeder with no idea and still breed good dogs. That's because you aren't REALLY breeding them, mother nature is, you're just an additional factor in the natural selection. A smooth upright ape with expectations that make the natural selection even harder. Take away the work, and then an ape is in charge of playing God, and that's bad. Always. It can be more or less bad depending on the breeder, but it's always bad. We aren't qualified for the job.
