Since dogs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, I thought it would be cool if we could have a thread to discuss which dog mixes look like they could be functional. I found this cool looking dog called the canis panther. Apparently its a mix between a doberman, amstaff, a great dane, and a labador.

The canis panther is what the doberman should be. It is the much superior Dobie, although the original creator I believe got jailed for killing a bunch of his dogs. I have no issue with it but the law does. Dog in the pic is fat though.

They're ok, they look cool, and some are no doubt developed and trained into legit PP dogs. There's some canadian guy kind of copying the canis panther design and calling it the "borz hund" or something. (just make sure you listen to nothing this woman says) Again, look cool, probably CAN BE coolish. In a way they are following in the footsteps of the Karl Friedrich Dobermann himself. They are mixing different types of dog to try and frankenstein an ultimate protection dog, and settling on mixing bull and boarhound with smarter more trainable dogs. You could add the "donovan pinscher" into this group- Although they had to be discontinued when their breeders got arrested, lol (which I think Bolushi is confusing with canis panther- although maybe they had controversies as well). Could also add 2 eagles protection dogs- But again, discontinued. A lot of failed attempts tbh. And I'd class the doberman in the same category. It continued, but as a show dog and a pet. The "ultimate protection dog" dream failed. If I was going to recommend and hype a protection dog program I would go with American Sentinel k9s- I think this breeder (Lee Robinson) knows what he is doing much better than most, and you kind of need to when trying to breed and work PP dogs (hunting dogs are easier, it all just falls into place organically). He has stuck around and grown and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Its not really my thing but these ones I would say seem very legit and partially because he actually provides dogs to hunters as well to work as catch dogs. Even though he personally has no interest in hog dogging, he has his dogs prove themselves in that field and that is a great idea and will be a difference maker. I find it kind of interesting most of his dogs are the same height and weight as my bull arab. Just a small interesting observation.
