Bit of a weird question, but I rarely post on here so I might as well come up with something to talk about. I'm only asking this question as, recently, I've become quite intrigued by the giant salamanders; hellbenders, Japanese giant salamanders, Chinese giant salamanders...
and I was just wondering what everyone thought about them - from an AvA point-of-view and in general.

I love salamanders and newts but for some reason the giant salamanders never piqued my interest. I think I find them kind of ugly and bland and just not as intriguing. A lot of the tropical fish I like are also the smaller more interesting varieties, I see it as kind of like that. The small salamanders and newts I find really interesting. As far as in an ava setting, they can beat anything that fits in their mouth, and can be quite resilient to the retaliations of whatever they are stuffing in their mouth. They are a pretty simple organism in a lot of ways.

That's unfortunate. I really like giant salamanders, but don't really care about other amphibians that much in general. Except for maybe the odd bullfrog or so.
It seems like you and I have very different tastes when it comes to animals.

I do not have much information about the giant salamander, but I am intrigued by salamander limb regeneration.

Generally speaking, amphibians don't seem to great fighters. They don't seem to be able to kill anything of decent size without suffocating them or swallowing them alive.
