I've found greyhounds and german shepherds to be the most pissed off dogs when they're older. Had a greyhound growl at me at the dog park, also had a german shepherd who'd lay on the ground and establish his space. Never played with other dogs, just laid down and did nothing most of the time. His owner was old, he also had an old Pomeranian. Both dogs are dead now and he doesn't go but he brought that shepherd for a while and it was just angry towards anyone who wasn't his owner. I think my greyhound experience was out of the ordinary, it was brindle. Looked more like an aussie staghound but nobody has those here.

Waiting a minute… a old man who has a German shepherd who ignores other dogs, and doesn’t like people who aren’t his owner? Could it be?

In all seriousness, I’ve honestly had the most negative experiences with GSDs but I wouldn’t call them the meanest dogs

Most of the German shepherds I’ve interacted with were quite easygoing. It’s the smaller dogs that are louder.
