The Ussuri black bear (Ursus thibetanus ussuricus), also known as the Manchurian black bear in South Korea is the largest of the Asiatic black bear subspecies. They have the characteristic cream or white “moon” collar of Asiatic black bears but have larger ears compared to the other subspecies. Males typically weigh up to 200 kilograms, females up to about 140 kilograms. The bears are omnivorous although predominately herbivorous feeding on grasses, herbs, fruits, nuts including acorns, pine nuts, larvae, invertebrates, termites, small mammals, eggs, bees and honey. They will also eat carrion when available and take grain from areas of cultivation. Mountain gorillas live in the misty mountain forests of the Virunga Massif and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in central Africa. They have longer, thicker fur than other gorilla subspecies, allowing them to live in colder temperatures. Adult males can weigh up to 200kg (440 lb), and are roughly twice the size of adult females. When they reach maturity (at around 12 or 13 years old), males develop the characteristic silver fur on their back that gives them the name ‘silverback’. Like all gorillas, mountain gorillas are highly sociable and live in family groups led by the dominant silverback. They are largely herbivorous and eat a variety of shoots, fruit and leaves – wild celery is a big favourite.

It's all guesswork, but I would give them a 50/50.

The bear comfortably takes this. It's offese is much greater but the defense is the main difference. Primates are very thin skinned. In an imaginary brawl where both opponents manage somehow to bite each other multiple times (but both do the same amount of damage to each other) the gorilla will end up as the more injured one.

Mountain Gorilla - Gorilla Sub-Species - www.gorillas-world.com/types-of-gorillas/ Their skin is thicker, and their dark fur longer and denser than the eastern lowland gorilla, to protect them from the low temperatures of their habitat. The bear has claws whereas the gorilla has gripping hands. So yes, the longer this fight lasts, the more damage the ape would receive from those claws. Still, this would be an interesting battle to watch.

At parity the black bear wins wins 6/10. To be honest - rethinking this one - while I believe a gorilla could put out more of a fight than many people seem to believe, that moon bear is a bear. 6 or possibly 7 out of 10 probably would be more realistic.
