Greyhound-type Boergreyhounds aren't powerful enough to be 100% viable all the time. A dog is/was necessary to increase hunting success rates and minimize injury. To get this they created a "wolfhound" variant of Boergreyhounds, and they are the dogs responsible for most brown hyena, large antelope and warthog killing are known as the Maritsane lineage of Boergreyhound. They generally hunt in pairs, and in conjunction with greyhound-type Boergreyhounds.

These dogs vary from the regular Boergreyhounds in that they are 50% greyhound and 50% deerhound/bull breed. They are considerably larger, more powerful, more committed bite and grip. However, they aren't as fast and will miss some jackal and small antelope at times.

They're also favored for working cattle and even catching and holding cattle when needed.

Maritsane can probably do in either gender. Africans are very impressed by them. A regular greyhound can kill lots of large animals like guanaco, red deer, kudu etc., and this is an animal designed specifically for those large antelopes and also for animals that fight. Like warthogs and hyenas.
This is quite the test for the Maritsane though. This is close to its ceiling.

Perfect prey to test the maritsane. Kind of what they are perfectly designed to hunt and kill. Would be a test though, many maritsane would probably fail, which would make the wildebeest a good way to sort the wheat from the chaff if you were breeding maritsane. But best vs best the Maritsane handles it well.
