25 kg aren't enough to close the gap in raw power between the two imo. Smilodon still wins.

Yeah, at these sizes, 55 pounds only equates to a 9% increase in size. I'm not sure if it's enough to bridge the gap between these two.

Yeah, tiger probably gets strongarmed here. With that being said it probably needs a little less control to implement its killing bite and has more utility weapons, so wouldn't count it out.

The Siberian tiger has stronger jaws and can fight better upclose, less risk of its canines breaking. The smilodon populator being a better grappler can finish off the tiger with a skull bite if it can control the fight with its forearms.

Smilodon populator was between 220kg (490lbs) and 400kg (880lbs) with one individual at 430kg (960lbs). Smildon was more bulky like a bear with ability to run down a moose at 60mi/hr and bears run on their feet. The Smilodon ran on its toes which means it would be faster on the run. Smilodon fatalis weighed 160kg (350lbs) to 280kg (620lbs) Nature News has the bite force of Smilodon fatalis at 1000 newton. This is less than a third of a 250 kg African Lion. African Lions bite force per weight is less than a Jaguar at the same size. The Jaguar by size is the strongest while than a Tiger is second strongest. Ngandong tiger was the largest tiger at 400kg (880kg) to 550 kg (1,212.54lbs). American Lion weighted 256kg (564lbs) to 251kg (774lbs). Xenosmilus weighted 300kg (660lbs) to 350kg (770lbs). There is supposed to be a Homotherium species found that was the largest discovered cat but I could not find information on it at this time. As for the fight despite the weaker bite force, smaller brain size and smaller claws of Smilodon populator, the fighting style, massive upper body strength and the one shot, quick kill sabers for teeth would have may the Smilodon populator the favorite. It would be like pitting a middle weight boxer against someone who is a martial artist and weight lifter with a knife. But as I ways like to remind people it is not the skills or size or the weapons but the individuals in the fight that counts.
