You took these? They're very high quality. Ok... so actually my mother is really hardcore into bird photography and took them, BUT I happened to be with her, catching up for my birthday at a lake. I just wanted to start off the thread. They're not that good, photo wise, she's not happy with them.

You took these? They're very high quality. This became an especially pertinent obversation today after I tried to take photos of a black shouldered kite harassing a square tailed kite with my phone - FML I promise in person it was cool. There was actually a pair of Black shouldered kites, one really committed to hounding the square tailed kite for a long time and the STK combatted the BSK by just rising higher and higher and higher into the stratosphere until the BSK couldn't follow it. Then the BSK came down and rested on the tree near a butcher bird.

In Australia Kites are kind of the easiest and most common bird of prey to a point where you get a little sick of them. Especially the following species- Whistling kites, square tailed kites, black kites. Letterwing, black shouldered and Brahminy kites are still a little bit exciting.

What continent has your favourite array of wildlife? I like the european "suite" best from an aesthetic point of view. The whole "red foxes and badgers and red deer and fallow deer and rabbits and hares and pheasants and grouse and red squirrels and weasels and pine martens and moles and wild boar and etc etc etc" that "woodland critters" thing really is nostalgic or something for me. The animals of farthing wood was my favourite cartoon as a kid- However, with my enhanced appreciation of the animal kingdom I guess I actually would say Asia because it has basically everything europe has and then a bunch more as well.
