If you don't know, why bother talking? State your reasons.

Assuming a working TM here of the best kind possible... I can't say I'm confident for either of these animals. Tibetan Mastiffs are cautious and not great at fighting... but a leopardess I don't think the Tibetan Mastiff would lose to. If a Tibetan Mastiff caught a leopardess predating on sheep and the leopardess decided to defend itself, say it was cornered, I think the leopardess loses. The Tibetan Mastiff is at least 30lbs larger at average weights. However most of the time it'd be a stalemate, barking pushy TM treating the leopardess very rough while the leopardess throws a fit about it and stops the TM from committing to an attack until they stop fighting. These TMs and the one I used for the matchup I believe would win this if forced - However the leopardess might get too much respect, be able to cause the dog too much pain... durability should shield the dog from much damage though. Harassing and nipping as long as necessary and eventually going in for the kill is also possible. A Tibetan Mastiff would outlast the leopard but every time it darted in to try and nip the leopard would hit it and hinder it from getting a good committed bite. A cur dog sees an opening on a jaguaress here - The Tibetan Mastiff would have a problem in getting that opening, I don't think it would so the tedious circling and nipping continues, but if it did... it's just a leopardess so there's no outgrappling the larger dog.

I mean if a Coonhound can outperform a Tibetan Mastiff on a CAT out of all animals that should tell you something.

I dunno, but has ridgeback in it or it's a similar blend to get a similar animal. That's the dog violently pressing down the jaguar's neck.

The one on the neck is a unknown Ridgeback cross, and there are 2 Coonhounds I think. 1’s a bluetick is all I know.

I don't see the coonhound doing anything out of the ordinary. Nipping a "subdued" jaguar. A jaguar temporarily extremely distracted and not a threat, the sweetest chance a coonhound could possibly get with a jaguar.

Thats true, my point was just that at least the dogs in that video actually got close to the cat. I see a lot of Tibetan Mastiffs straight up standing up barking, and if they charge its briefly. Mostly on snow leopards. For a Bluetick Coonhound to at least get close to something is better than how TM’s perform with snow leopards. I don’t like Coonhounds, but still.

That's why I said they'd need to be forced. A big, rugged working Tibetan Mastiff in rural predatory country guarding livestock comes across a leopardess and corners it in a goat shed or something, fight is on, dog wins. A leopardess jumps a livestock pen to attack the stock inside, Tibetan Mastiff comes over and bites the shit out of it and the leopardess flees, crisis averted, livestock saved... dog victory. This is what we should expect. The former would be a lucky happenstance if we insist a fight to the death. Tibetan Mastiffs are a sharp dog, and as opposed to a scenthound who is bred to be a coward and will bark at a cornered animal, a Tibetan Mastiff would likely see it as a threat that needs to go away if it's near its stock or property. Tibetan Mastiffs are very smart animals, and unfortunately this can encourage cowardice. Notice many if not all the most intelligent dogs like to live first and foremost, none will commit to a battle such as this voluntarily. However a scenthound is not smart, it will blast a leopardess's face in with noise from 1ft away. In the open plains this fight will be a barkfest. No fight much at all I don't think. Mind you however, many LGDs vary individual to individual. I figured this was a good matchup because a Kangal, Alabai, Caucasian Shepherd and dogs of that nature would butcher this poor little leopard, while a Pyrenees or something would get mauled, and the best working TMs are not too far behind the Archaic LGDs. One thing to note however is that the Tibetan Mastiff's skull and presumably bite is underwhelming... However a leopardess's skull is also poor, its male counterparts truly leave it in the dust. Someone find a female leopard skull? Looked for a bit, couldn't find one, but I bet it pales in comparison to the male.

The head sizes and bulk definitely are way different but I'm surprised the skull doesn't look too proportionally diminished.

I mean tibetan mastiffs get killed or fought off by snow leopards , on max smaller and less stronger than african leopardesses (and even small leopard subspecies overlapping with snow leopards are dominant on the latter) Also female leopardesses can get very impressive. Nkoveni is a huge female with a massive neck. Three Rivers female killed one of her cubs so she's bloodlusted and gave her a beating. No that is not a male leopard... It's a female. Other two big female leopardesses fighting, note how fast they are, probably faster than males since they are 80-130 lbs and males are 100-220 lbs. The second female coming from behind has a huge neck aswell reddit.com/r/NatureIsFuckingLit/s/4otG1Cs9GJ
