Found more context for the image of a Jagd against a big yote. "RIP. Poacher ..... he was a legend Poacher fought with a big North Eastern coyote in a den ....to later die from sustained injuries. Poacher lives on in stories like the photo here of the iced over river where poacher caught a coyote that went into the river and was swept under the ice and the hunting party went into the river reaching under the ice to grab him and pull him out ..with the coyote still in his mouth. Or the photo below that came with a cell phone video of him going toe to toe with a big coyote backed up to a rock ledge, or the bobcat he went off into a hole after because the hounds pushed him into a hole Poacher fought and killed or helped kill PILES of game including being in a lots and lots of coyotes but this time in a den he took enough damage he couldn’t recover. He was from a litter we produced 6-7 years ago. Half littermate to our Macy and Grit dogs."

Many people favor the coyote over these Terriers but they don’t know why. Coyotes have killed dogs, yes. Pet or toy ones, or old ones. When we have a young healthy terrier against a coyote it favors the Jagdterrier. Whether a Jagdterrier kills a coyote is not said. But a Jagdterrier can certainly give a coyote a hard time.

A hard time yes, but a coyote's jaws on a little terrier... The biggest Jagdterriers can be 25lbs and leggy. From a 60 second search on facebook this is the closest dog that kinda sorta fits the description... Such a dog against a 40lb coyote... can't say I'd count it out. However if a Jagd is an earth dog it's probably fucked. Had to be a hog or bear dog to win this, and they're few and far in-between. Honestly all terriers (ignoring Airedales, they're a cur/hound) will get screwed at some point, and it will not be by a badger, not a bobcat, not a fox, but a coyote. Monstrous jaws on a little dog like that? Yikes. Attachments:

I'm not so sure if it would later survive the injuries without significant vet attention, but as far as we're concerned the immediate winner against a coyote would probably be that Jagd. And no dice on large male coyotes most of the time IMO.

Monstrous jaws on a little dog like that? Yikes. It doesn’t even need to be any fucking enormous category size of dogs to kill a coyote. They’re not a wolf or something. For a wolf you would need dogs the size of a wolf. Not saying they would win but still. With coyotes, they’re just a Jackal in the fact they haven’t evolved beyond that stage. Now the way I saw those Jackals hunt antelope is in the same way a Coyote hunts deer. Biting at the hamstrings and leg quarters for hours to even weeks. For an average dog, lets say a 50 pound one, the coyote will basically try to bite on the hamstrings of that dog, like the leg or the tail, maybe even the side. So then we have Jagdterrier size. A Jagdterrier could give a coyote a hard time as in they are smart and feisty dogs. Now, since a coyote can take small ones, the bite can escalate to the neck or back now. So the coyote has the undeniable advantage.

A coyote has an undeniable advantage but that doesn’t mean anything. It means its little, so it can’t do anything when the coyote is over them in height. A coyote can’t do much to a very tall dog, they can to a small dog though.
