Yes I think that's true for wolves and true for dogs too. They just aren't THAT good at pack-strategy, and sometimes more numbers can actually be to their detriment. With Dholes, AWDs and Bush dogs they just get more and more powerful with more numbers, but the wolf isn't that kind of pack animal. |

Wolf and dog pack members unlike the rest of the canids don’t increase their success because of cooperation. In the true pack hunting dogs, all pack members are basically acting as the same thing, so even though AWD’s are small they act as one so its not an issue. Where as huge packs of wolves i’ve seen stand beside bison confused as what to do, until a member decides to take action. At the same time i’ve seen 2 wolves be beat up and trampled by a bison and still don’t give up. |

I think so. Selective breeding increases or decreases traits, and with dogs now in human society its a thing now.
There will be that one individual wolf that may grab a bison from the head, one individual wolf who usually only attacks underneath and one wolf who just sits there and lets the rest of them do the work.
It seems this is exactly what we see in dogs. Gripping dogs seem to be the ones who go for the head, the ones who seem to only go underneath are rough curs and the ones who sit and let the rest do the work i’d say are soft bailers.
