Were the United States and China connected at one point? Because-
1. US has American paddlefish, China has Chinese paddlefish
2. US has hellbenders, China has Chinese giant salamanders
3. US has American alligators, China has Chinese alligators
4. US has brown bears, Tibet has brown bears

A combination. Deep in history there has been continental drift, all the continents were joined as one at one point (pangea), and then were divided in two for a long time (Laurasia and Gondwana). But also, multiple times through history due to lowering sea levels, alaska has been joined to siberia.

Croatia also has silver-cheeked toadfish, Eurasian Brown bears and Fire salamanders. It's perfectly normal (if not the regular) for countries to have different species of animals that are somewhat/quite similar. I wouldn't call this fascinating.
