The largest acquariums animal an elephant could beat is a giant squid.

Definitely a full sized great white shark at least. Shishkebobed into the sand of the makeshift shallow arena.

Elephants are slow on land, and even slower in water. It can't even fight back actually. The shark would just be thrashing at one of the legs. Causing tremendous blood loss and thus killing it within at most 5-10 minutes. Also I don't mean shallow water. I mean in the middle of the fucking ocean [theoratically]. Elephants can swim. I'll make a size comp'. Sent from my SM-A105FN using Tapatalk

Middle of the ocean... ok. You're probably right. In shallowish water, even lets say 10 feet, so plenty of room for the shark to be a shark, I think a bull elephant (which can be like 12-13 feet tall) wins. It needs to be able to use the ground though, yes.

size comparison Sent from my SM-A105FN using Tapatalk Yikes... looks bad for the shark. I was thinking the opposite. The elephant's [brittle-ish] legs would fit in the shark's mouth perfectly. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the elephant would be dead within 5 minutes. If it can devastate a 15 ton Humpback whale then it can do the same to an 8-10 ton African elephant. Sent from my SM-A105FN using Tapatalk That would be fair in your "deep water" scenario where the elephant is like a bobbing apple and unable to do anything. If it is touching the ground and can use the ground (as they do a lot when attacking things) the shark is screwed. I just think of the way elephants totally easily manhandle white rhinos twice the great white's size. The elephant would kneel and press the shark against the sandy bottom before driving it's tusks deep into it's internal organs.
