Walrus vs Cape Buffalo

I am going to go with the walrus. It is heavier, has more durable skin and blubber to protect its vitals.

Despite being slower than the Cape buffalo, it has tusk than can cause damage.

The Cape buffalo might be faster but it is not an agile animal.

With a neck almost as thick as it’s body, a walrus is hard to kill.

Although Cape buffalo are dangerous prey, it is possible for a lone lion to suffocate it to death if it gets close enough.



Now a male polar bear which is much larger and stronger than a lion is unable to kill a walrus the same way, the bear is unable to stop the walrus from escaping into water. I doubt the lion is going to be able to stop a walrus from going into the water.

I think the Walrus's blubber would be easily impaled but the buffalo wouldn't hit any vital areas if the walrus was quick to turn and face the buffalo. I'm not sure how good walruses are at using their tusks though in a documentary I saw one stab a polar bear and it wasn't good. Though a buffalo is much taller and probably much less susceptible to the tusks.

Walrus is 2.5x the size so it wins.
