I played both football and basketball, football was a lot better because I was much bigger and stronger than everyone and was legally allowed to beat them up. Violence is fun. But it was too hot here and I was too big for the heat. Some other kid actually suffered a heatstroke. They really wanted me on their team and evidently I was valuable and good at it (I disagree- I didn't know WTF was going on in actual games, I just pushed the guy in front of me and looked around) but I was still pulled out of it by my grandpa who was the one who took me to practice and games and watched. I was too big for the Florida heat and also peeling the suit off of me after the games was like trying to peel a turtle's shell off. In basketball I simply did nothing. I offered nothing. I didn't have the stamina. To this day I am encouraged to play football by everyone. The only sport I watch at all is football, but TBH I don't even watch that much either and never on my own accord. I'm not much of a sports lover.

You know you can improve your stamina and heat tolerance right? It's not set in stone. It actually improves very quickly, if you work on your stamina it will get good long before you lose weight, and then you'll be a big fat fit guy. Takes about 2 weeks of cardio to get a noticeably big improvement, a low resting heart rate and improved recovery rate.
My favourite sports- 1. Rugby League 2. MMA (just ufc) 3. Basketball (just NBA) 4. Women's Track and Field 5. Rugby Union

I didn't make the choice and didn't experience some horrid difficulty playing and whatever but my heat tolerance and stamina was still fairly below average regardless of what I did. I don't think I would've made the decision myself though I did see the reasoning behind it and agreed with the reasoning, the nail in the coffin was the heatstroke incident. I'm not black enough. Lol.
