I like and respect predators that are so dominant and "cool" they generally do not outright kill or seriously hurt each other even if they can. Neither wanted to get hurt. Though I am surprised the considerably smaller bear even tried to win after the first struggle.

Though I am surprised the considerably smaller bear even tried to win after the first struggle. The smaller bear can be an overly confident reckless juvenile to start with. Male polar bears reach sexual maturity at six years old but are excluded from mating activity till they are eight to ten normally.
