I've always been pro saltie, but I'm worried about the shark's teeth. Sharks are stupid and they don't understand what combat is, the crocodile could bite off one of its fins or bite its face.

Granted, shark bites crocodile = it could be bitten in half or bleed to death because a huge chunk of it is missing.

I want the croc to win, not totally sure it will. Dunno. Logically it should be better equipped to grab hold and control the action with the style of bite it has. Sharks are more just one big chomp that causes a bunch of damage and that's it, they also quite robotically only utilise their bite in an ambush scenario. So all indications would suggest a crocodile SHOULD win, the fact great whites can get possibly twice as heavy might be the problem here.

How do Great Whites operate and think in a predation/fighting context? How do they differentiate between which shapes they want to bite?

They're pretty one dimensional, they swim underneath things and explode upwards towards shapes that look close enough to food. If something goes down and looks them in the face it usually doesn't even register to them that it's a potential hunting situation and they typically don't do shit. Seals swim down and blow bubbles in their face and they just look all dumb. People can free dive with them and nothing happens, I wouldn't, would still skeeve me out, but people do.

gws wins, over twice the size, broader, deadlier bite, just as durable as the crocodile and has the advantage in water. Also as soon as the saltie grabs onto (say) the shark’s fin, the shark will start splashing around the place and thus the saltie shouldn’t be able to use its deathroll.

The shark can also stay under water much longer and has more stamina too being warm blooded.
