I was hiking up around Angel Staircase Falls in Yoho National Park about 15 years ago. I decided to hike up this bluff and once there was going to take off my backpack and have lunch. There was no way that I could see what was at the top of it but then again, what could possibly go wrong? I get to the top and there it was!
I just fucking couldn't believe what I was seeing! Not 10 feet from me was an enormous white mound of fur. It had two 6" long black stiletto horns, black eyes and black hoofs. It was lying on it's side and had been sleeping. This thing was all of 300 pounds if not more, and it jumped up so fast that I am still shocked to this day.
It was a huge male mountain goat! It just stood there and looked at me with it's long beard. It's neck was thicker than one of my legs and it's shoulders were massive. The staring contest lasted for about 3 or 4 seconds, until I ran back down the hill as fast as my ass would take me.
When I got to the bottom I stopped and looked up and it was still there looking down. Then it laid back down again as if nothing had happened. As to me the 1st thing I did when I got home was to change my shorts, as there was a big brown stain in them.

Around here we know what they are capable of. They can and do kill fully grown cougars with those stiletto horns when defending their flock. These things are the size of a large donkey, they are not your grandpa's barnyard goat.

Bolushi vs Mountain Goat? I'm slowly but surely developing a sense that 95% of the members here have no real actual experience with wildlife, and that most of your "expertise" is through what y'all have read up on. Listen here fellows, there is a difference. Bolushi 's post above simply serves to highlight this.

The claim to fame for mountain goats is getting bodied by snow leopards... just hold its horns with your hands.

Bolushi vs Mountain Goat? Hmm, I wouldn't be comfortable sending 1 Bolushi to fight a mountain goat. I prefer using 2 Bolushis myself... though I did know a Bolushi who was capable of breaking goat necks.

I have actually been to national parks around the world and seen many animals that make your goat look like a prematurely born lamb.

They spend their entire day climbing...they are all muscle. If they did that they would starve. They are low octane machines who eat grass in the mountains for fear of getting massacred by coyotes and above. So if the goat wins it's not the goat being good it's the human being bad...

(I'm straight) I am 110% straight. I got my nose bitten off by a Saigon whore. On a more serious note, have you seen African and Asian animals? Cape Buffalo, Gaur, Eland, Kudu, Wildebeest and Nilgai look far more impressive than a Mountain Goat. Heck, even the predators like Lions,Tigers, Jaguars, Leopards, Hyenas and Crocodiles could eat up your goat.

Though a goat just has more exploitable weak points for apes.

You 2 animal "experts" would have run like hell too if you would have been with me. Me with 2 greenhorns in the wilds of British Columbia...now there is a pretty picture.
