Show us striker victories and I will show you more wrestler victories. there's a reason there's no d1 wrestlers/adcc guys in the UFC anymore. the dagi guys are an exception but Umar, usman, and islam have more than good enough muay thai and khabib had a brick of a chin. Takedown and submission defense is much easier to learn than striking defense I know fuck all about sports but the one wrestler vs striker match I saw was a mismatch in favor of the wrestler. |

I would totally kill myself if I was a genuine carnivora member. Being associated with the current roster of carnivora guys, especially haileyspino who thinks a maned wolf killing a pampas deer = greyhound killing guanaco, just tarnishes your reputation instantly. I believe he made a lot of sense but his striker beats wrestler opinions were misguided and wrong. His comparisons on wolves and dogs were OK, like I agree with wolves and wolfdogs doing better against grippers in a backyard skirmish and it was interesting hearing about that. Striker > Wrestler Leon Edwards Israel Adesanya Alex Pereira All these people had to train MMA wrestling and grappling (bjj) to compete in MMA. Back in the early days of UFC they actually had PURE strikers fight PURE wrestlers, the wrestlers ALWAYS won. If you know enough to stave off the take downs and stave off submissions, then yes, the fight is kept standing and then absolutely striking is hugely advantageous. It's understood now you HAVE to know some wrestling and some BJJ. You don't necessarily need to be the BETTER wrestler or better jiu jitsu practicioner, just know enough to not be schooled and manhandled with ease. A lot of MMA fights are primarily standing because they all neutralise eachother's grappling. So yes strikers are doing well, still most of the best champs had wrestling backgrounds. |
