I don't know, but I guess I'll go with: Alligator Jaguar Croc Monitor Persian Leopard Gray Wolf
Honorable mentions that didn't make the list but were considered, not in order: Black/Sloth Bear Florida Panther Lion Non-venomous snakes (I think they're more honorable than pussy venomous snakes) Many different lizard reptiles
Subject to change... I don't have ''favorite'' animals I have animals I like and putting them in order is painful. There's also a lot of them.

I did specify mammalian carnivores, so that would exclude alligators and croc monitors but it is interesting to learn you like those animals. I sensed the Alligator appreciation already.

Oh, didn't notice. Yes, I like reptilians. Alligators I think are especially cool and smart. They may not be as strong as big crocodiles but they adapt to any environment quite well and have some interesting behaviors which solidified their standing in my wild predator ''tier list''.

I actually have always maintained alligators are underrated. Yes they are runner up to Nile Crocodiles and Saltwater crocodiles, but I believe they are superior to many more crocodiles than they are inferior to.

For me (I think... so tough) 1. African wild dog 2. Polar bear 3. Fossa 4. Wolverine 5. Jaguar Note I reserve the right to change my mind. Coincidentally the very last animal I've gotten down to in my ML percentage spreadsheet is the fossa, which I'd never heard of before. I've converted all the taxonical names to their common names as it's always inconvenienced me how I look at that table and don't know what most of the animals are because they're not in their common names. Fossa: 12 - 19 lbs, largest carnivoran in Madagasca, sort of a cat/vivverid hybrid. (ML%) - Humerus: 7.04, radius: 7.8, femur: 7.15, tibia: 6.69 @harcastle what is it about the fossa you like?

Fossas kind of allow me to appreciate cat qualities without the politics and baggage of joining the cat brigade. They are also very much not cats, and actually are more like arboreal persistence pursuit specialists(rather than ambush hunters) so have some stamina, but also have crazy agility and acrobatic ability moving through the trees with a level of grace and skill that doesn't play second fiddle to cats at all. I don't know if anything moves through trees better than fossas. They are also just intriguingly prehistoric and alien in a strange exotic land hunting weird lemurs... I just think they are very cool.
Jaguars ofcourse are real cats and made my top 5. Jaguars were my original first favourite wild animal so I retain a lot of nostalgia and a soft spot for them. I do also think they have a bit of a rugged knock about nature antithetical to the classic feline. As do lions, which I do also like (and they've even spent time as my favourite animal).
I could have slipped in the pine marten, I like them a lot for similar reasons to the fossa, but I like fossas more, and I'd say wolverines are my favourite mustelid (and they were the favourite mammal I had after I got over jaguars a bit).
AWDs are a new appreciation I have actually only built after coming to appreciate different kinds of dogs. Through beginning to admire sighthounds and even Collies and etc then I have revised my view of AWDs and now I think they are very cool.
For some reason wolves never did anything for me, which I realise is quite strange since I like dogs so much. But I don't even like "lupine" dogs, dogs with a wolfish look. It's just not a look I like. AWDs and dholes and even dingoes look cool to me. Wolves and coyotes and jackals do not. And huskies and German shepherds don't either.

"They [fossa] are also just intriguingly prehistoric and alien in a strange exotic land hunting weird lemurs... I just think they are very cool." While not a carnivoran, the Mangshan viper has a very otherworldly look, and only found in one mountain range in China. Up close at individual scale-level it has the most intricate patterns, while further away those patterns form into something that looks all mossy and prehistoric. It's my favourite snake. I'll have to think about what my fave Top 5 carnivora are. Here are a few pics of the Mangshan Viper. Couldn't find any pics of the snake close enough for individual scale pattern, but I know of a video that has that which I'll look for later... Edit: Nope unfortunately I can't locate that YouTube video. I know the channel (Dingo Dinkelman), but the title of the video mustn't include the snake's name so it's hard to locate. Apparently one of the sexes of the Mangshan viper has the more intricate scale-pattern. Tried to find some other close-ups but not finding what I want, not like in that other video.

I'm almost embarrassed for my cat-loving Pokemon list, but I think the most popular carnivora are popular for a reason. Can't really distinguish the order so will just put whatever where-ever...
1. Brown bear (strong while having good endurance, good grappler, big and bad, at higher weights could whollop all the big cats)
2. Clouded leopard (closet most talented cat and with some unique genetics and specs)
3. Cougar (almost seems human when I look into its face and eyes. I also like how it's the most generalist cat, jack-of-all-trades among cats)
4. Cheetah (probably my first fave animal as a child on account of running speed)
5. Lion (combat cat, the male's wicked mane, only social cat that gives us loads of interesting observation through their "prides")

oldgreengrolar I'd be interested in your Top 5, or 10 if you'd prefer (as per your "Top 10" comment in the "New Member" thread). I like the way you keep adding to the Polar Bear profile with interesting facts, that's a good idea. Guessing polar bear will be in your Top 5 somewhere? XD
