I shouldn't have implied I think it was a totally worthless sack of shit. I bet it was incredibly strong, could bite insanely hard and was very durable. I just suspect it's agility, quickness and intelligence would have been sorely lacking, resulting in it's performance being not great. I base this on the native prey animals in Australia being pretty slow, pretty dumb and not very alert or capable. The isolation of Australia resulted in it's fauna levelling up at a different rate than other continents, who all experienced great faunal interchanges with one another and this accelerated the evolution due to how harsh and cutthroat the competition was. This is why feral animals are such a big problem in Australia, even a random domestic goat finds itself crushing it in the wilderness of Australia.
In the two O'Hallorans vs Thylacoleo case I just don't see it being able to get tooth on them, and I see them strategically outmanuveuring it and controlling it. They'd be too smart and skilled and their footwork too good to be caught lacking. I wouldn't be surprised however if it could bully a cat off a kill, in the way hyenas often do. I think it could waddle in and tank whatever the cat did and take it's kill. Probably would. The same way a tasmanian devil will definitely do that to any domestic cat, and probably would to other small cats. I actually think hyenas are a bad match up for leopards, and maybe a thylacoleo would logically be a bad matchup for them as well. Not sure.
