The Persian Leopard averages 145lbs. I think at parity the BK has a fair shot but this is just on a cusp of where the weights shift. So... tough. I'd probably take the leopard. BKs do average larger but I don't think this will be enough. 165lbs is the max they weigh while being able to fully function usually. I'd be more keen on assuming a parity match, since that's generally what we do with Dogo v cougar/leopard and similar matchups.

I think the LGD is just too unagile.. it’s better off fighting an orangutan IMO. I don’t have much faith in the leopard either, however, even a Persian. Draw.

I don't have much faith in the BK, especially the bigger ones. They seem to get very ungainly, sloppy and unbalanced. The blood should be good but the breeding for size seems to be out of control and over-riding whatever bloodsports some might get to participate in. I think a BK bullies a leopard most of the time, but I could see a big male persian leopard making a BK pay, exploiting its sluggishness and lack of agility. Getting it in some kind of throat hold in a position where it can't get up. Let's just say I wouldn't be surprised to see that. Still the BK is very very strong and pretty durable so I think for sure it's gonna fight off a leopard most of the time, even if it is ambushed.

BKs make me think of hyenas in dog form mostly with regards to their mobility. The leopard could try to go for an inescapable hold which can’t be countered by a bite (maybe a back mount or dragging by the throat like a Tiger would do to a gaur). I take issue with this: “Still the BK is very very strong and pretty durable so I think for sure it's gonna fight off a leopard most of the time, even if it is ambushed.” There’s no ambush or fighting an opponent off. Both animals are bloodlusted and standing face to face when the fight begins.

There's no such thing as bloodlusted, so we can disregard that. It will be un-bloodlusted as soon as the fight gets difficult.

A BK that's a throwback to dogs like "Smut" (which there are many but they're not "mainstream") could be agile enough to avoid that. I'd suggest the Sri Lankan leopards that "Smut" fought against wouldn't have been much different from the Persian leopard, I'm also assuming they were a little bigger back then.

Did you know Sri Lankan leopards are the apex predators on Sri Lanka? Alternatively, you could consider the sloth bears, pythons, and (admittedly semiaquatic) crocodiles. But without tigers around, they evolved to be the biggest, baddest cat in the block. I guess historically they could’ve rivaled the Persians in size.

Yes definitely, but we're talking a mongrel boarhound hardened by work and battles of that nature, both in his own individual life/upbringing and in his recent breeding. The BKs most likely descend from such dogs, but are no less removed from them than great danes are removed from the european version. I see your point though, a throwback that's not too big and raised right with that kind of experience would be as good as anything (Smut weighed 130 lbs btw, and yes apparently fought lots of leopards).

In that imaginary scenario we're automatically attributing the leopard with characteristics it does not posess. Might as well give the dog a laser beam on its head.

Carnivora fights are more reminiscent of “which animal has the superior bauplan (for killing)?” An experienced BK would be just as good as any wild leopard.
