The Airedale Terrier should be bigger, also can do more damage, better killer... but the SBT is a methodical little monster. Airedales are notorious for killing dogs but so are SBTs. I'd put this at 50/50 for average weights but at near-parity the SBT would prevail. If the Airedale is at least 15lbs larger I give it an edge.

If an Airedale can get a hit in I think the Airedale could win. If the Staffordshire Bull Terrier grabs a hold of the Airedale though the Staffordshire Bull Terrier may win.

Close to parity and the closer they get in weight I favour a working SBT. But most of the time honestly working SBT are 40lbs and smaller…. Airedales males average about 65lbs working males, and some bloodlines can get up to 95 plus…. Would only give SBT from fighting stock a good chance against the larger Airedales from hog lines. And honestly at that point I beleive an Airedales would be too big. On top of that SBT are rarely bred for work, I’m talking the purebred SBT here. Not the big ones that are crossed with bully’s, apbt or other breeds to make them larger etc. the real SBT is supposed to be smaller than the apbt. |

SBTs pack a lot of punch, and the airedale's body might struggle on the durability front when an SBT gets a hold of it. A really big "oorang" airedale (weighing from 80-110 lbs) would be different. I think one of those would kill an SBT a lot of the time. But yeah a 40-50 lbs sbt against a 60-70 lbs airedale... I dunno... Probably go sbt. |
