Very obscurely, there actually IS an alabai vs jaguar video. It makes no sense, but that video exists. It was very clearly staged though, a very sketchy video that clearly existed and was created with the intention of showing a jaguar killing an alabai. The alabai was tethered and there were a million cuts like they had to try and try and try until they got the jaguar kill they wanted. If jaguars can kill Caporal they most certainly can kill a giant, inflexible Alabai.

I didn’t know that. Thanks for sharing! Perhaps the farmers should try barbed wire first. Barbed wire to stop Jaguars? Alright, I’m gonna make a bold claim. Any cat larger than a leopard isn’t a good climber.

Maybe you're thinking of razor wire. This is a barbed wire fence - There's no climbing, even jumping is unnecessary though perhaps useful when in a speedy pursuit.

My point still stands? 150 lbs or so seems to be the feline tree-climbing limit for that matter. Hardcastle I have yet seen a jaguar climb a tree, no cap.

Bingo. Does it even fucking matter?! How does this relate to the forum? We are talking about animals, ecology, and interspecific conflicts….. not math.

Can also go through or under it easily. My dogs go through multiple barbed wire fences a day without climbing or jumping.
Dogs that jump them are cooler, if you have a dog that jumps them at high speed that is a point of pride around here. Makes them better hunters because they don't get slowed down. Unfortunately I never trained mine to do that, so they just scrape through or under.

Coincidentally my dog just now got a cut on her back from going through a barbed wire fence after some Wallabies (not easy to see but it's that red spot)

Then make the fence higher… They're making fences that are many kilometres long, they already cost tens of thousands of dollars and adding a foot or two makes them thousands more. All for nothing, because a Jaguar would still just go straight through, under or over it. Like I said the point is keeping cattle in, that's it. Wildlife moves through them like nothing.

Most bull arabs living and working on farms regularly jump fences in action, so do Kelpies and heelers, but yeah staghounds and greyhounds and etc (ie whippets) take to it very readily without much encouragement at all. I could have taken 10 minutes to train mine but they live in a suburban yard contained by fences so training them to jump fences would be counter productive to them being suburban pets. They jump into my truck which is higher than a barbed wire fence but psychologically they don't think to jump fences.

The most common subject that you'll work with... is maths. All of the figures and databases of animals that you see all over the internet exists because of maths. Are you a jackass or something?
